How to paint an office without stopping work

You cannot close an office for a whole week to paint it. The good news is that you almost never have to: with planning it gets painted in parts and the team keeps working as normal. The key is planning the order of the areas and choosing the right time and material.

Working in phases

We split the office into zones and paint one while the rest stay in use. An office or meeting room is cleared and protected, painted, left to dry, and then we move to the next. That way the whole operation never stops, only a few people move desks for a day.

Weekends and out of hours

Common areas, reception and corridors are usually painted at the weekend or in the evening, when nobody is in. On Monday the team walks into a freshly painted, dry office. It costs a little more for the hours, but zero days closed.

Low-odour, fast-drying paints

For workspaces we use low-odour, low-VOC water-based paints that leave the air breathable within a few hours. With good ventilation a room painted in the evening is ready to use the next day, without that smell that forces you to keep windows open all week.

Protecting equipment and leaving it tidy

Computers, servers, printers and paperwork are covered with plastic or moved out of the area before we start. We protect raised floors, carpet and cabling, and at the end of each phase we tidy up so the space is operational again. The exact price depends on a visit: we need to see the square metres, the available hours and how much furniture has to be moved.
